Description:

Built in the 13th century but extensively transformed over the years, the château has a square layout with a tower at each corner. It has been a family property for several generations.

First mentioned in 1256, the château was transformed in the 17th century by the descendants of Pierre III de Laurens, who laid out the park and built the large cistern and stables. Partially destroyed during the French Revolution, the château was restored under the Empire and enlarged from 1862 onwards. Square in plan, with a tower at each corner, the original château retains its beautiful original vaulted rooms and monumental kitchen.
The first-floor apartments were converted in the 18th century.
The beautiful Renaissance doorway, formerly the main entrance on the eastern side, has been rebuilt on the northern façade.
In the French-style park, laid out in 1734, stands the large cistern built in 1747 for the water supply. Its five naves and twenty pillars, topped by a 6-metre-high barrel vault, could hold 28,000 m3 of water.

Tours of the château are available all year round, starting from the courtyard and costing €8. Reservations must be made by telephone. Visits to the château can be combined with those to the cistern for €12 in May-June-July and August. Tickets can be booked at the cistern; the château can also be visited on its own during this period.

Leading contract. Today, the château and park are undergoing major restoration work, with support from the French government, Europe and the region.
